JUNE 5, 2010 at the Waterfront, Vallejo, CA
The Philippine Cultural Committee is once again gearing up for another exciting Pista Sa Nayon, a Filipino Cultural Celebration, in conjunction with our 23rd year of celebrating Philippine Independence Day in Vallejo. This year it will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Vallejo Waterfront. We would appreciate your support in making this year’s event more successful than previous years. From a modest 700 people in 2001, our attendance has steadily increased to 25,000 visitors in 2008 as estimated by the Vallejo Times Herald. This year, we are expecting around 30,000 visitors. Pista Sa Nayon is one of the largest FREE outdoor festivals in the Bay Area with over 97 vendor booths, delicious food, continuous first-class entertainment, parade and activities for all ages. It is, by far, the biggest in Vallejo in terms of attendance from all over the Bay Area! We feel that this will be a good promotion venue for your organization. Vallejo has been rated as the most diverse city in the United States, according to the New York Times. The city is home to over 120,000 people, including 30,000 Filipino Americans. Vallejo ties to the Philippines date back to 1898, when ships that fought in the Battle of Manila Bay left Mare Island for their long journey across the Pacific Ocean. Since then, Filipinos have come to Vallejo to work, buy homes, raise families and start businesses. Filipinos are an economic force in Vallejo with one of the highest household incomes among ethnic groups and a high rate of home ownership. |
